[edit] History

[edit] Origins

Coupa was founded by Dave Stephens and Noah Eisner, e-procurement veterans, who grew the Oracle Corporation procurement solution to its current success among Fortune 500 companies. Their vision is to simplify purchasing and fulfill the promise of cost-effective, efficient e-procurement for small and mid-sized companies. The company began as an open source project, Coupa Express, on Sourceforge. With over 10,000 downloads, the company was named as one of the top 10 enterprise software companies to watch by Network World [1]. The popularity of the project allowed the company to raise money from the venture capital firm BlueRun. Coupa Express remains one of the most active solutions on Sourceforge.
