County Route 40 was a county highway in Monmouth County, New Jersey which ran entirely within Ocean Township.

County Route 40 consisted of that part of Sunset Avenue between (State Route 35 and Wickapecko Drive.

[edit] History

Sunset Avenue was taken over as a county highway on May 23, 1934 and was assigned the number 82. When Monmouth County highways were renumbered in 1937 it was designated as part of County Route 17. By 1939 it was County Route 17A. In 1953 it was renumbered as CR 40, which it remained until being decommissioned on April 22, 2004.
