County Road 603 (Florida)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

County Road 603 is a county highway in St. Lucie County, Florida locally known as Angle Road, extending 4.5 miles in the city of Fort Pierce. The road provides a short cut for motorists traveling westward on Orange Avenue (SR 68) and northward on Kings Highway (SR 713). CR 606's western terminus is an intersection with Johnston Road near Timberlake Estates, adjacent to Interstate 95 (SR 9); the eastern terminus is an intersection with Orange Avenue in Fort Pierce.

While Angle Road informally defines the western boundary of Fort Pierce, the east-west section provides access to many orange groves in the region, via a northern continuation of CR 603 (Johnson Road, which, north of Indrio Road served as SR 603) and several other former Florida State Roads in northern St. Lucie County and southern Indian River County. Recently the urbanization that has been a feature of southern Florida has reached central and southern St. Lucie County, resulting in the construction of residential developments such as Timberlake Estates and Golden Pond at the western end of Angle Road and Meadowood near the southern end of Johnston Road.

The road was formerly a state highway known as State Road 607A, and was also signed for a time as County Road 607A.
