County Road 402 is a 7 mile long county highway in Brevard County, Florida, originally designated State Road 402. It connects the Kennedy Space Center launch complex with Playalinda Beach on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean and Titusville on the mainland of Florida. Its western terminus is an intersection with U.S. Route 1 (SR 5); its historic eastern terminus is an intersection with SR 405 and the historical northern terminus of SR 401 in Cape Canaveral Air Force Station near Cape Canaveral. With the redesignation of the former SR 402 to county road status in the early 1980s, CR 402 has been realigned from Beach Road to A. Max Brewer Memorial Parkway to a new eastern terminus with Brevard County Road 3 (formerly SR 3) on the western shore of Mosquito Lagoon. It remains the primary access road to the beaches of Canaveral National Seashore, which remain open to the public except on days in which space launches are scheduled. Along with CR 3, CR 402 is also a primary access route for Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. For the entire route, it is part of the Indian River Lagoon Scenic Highway
