County Road 4009 (Volusia County, Florida)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Volusia County Road 4009 (locally known as Williamson Boulevard) is a north/south county road, running parallel with Interstate 95. The cities it passes are Daytona Beach, Port Orange, and Ormond Beach. On race days by the Daytona International Speedway, Williamson Boulevard gets backed up because of a parking lot located south of US 92. The southern terminus is with an intersection at CR 421, just west of I-95. The northern terminus is with an intersection at SR 40 in Ormond Beach, totaling a total mileage of 12.46 mi (20.05 km).

[edit] Route description

Starting at SR 40 in Ormond Beach[1], it starts out as a four-lane divided road. Immediately, it enters unincorporated Volusia County for a short time and enters Daytona Beach. Williamson Boulevard transforms into a two-lane road and intersects two roads, CR 4019 and SR 430. It enters a built-up urban area as it approaches US 92 and the Daytona International Speedway. CR 4009 is now four lanes wide and starts to form the western border of Daytona Beach International Airport. It meets the Belleview Avenue Extension, then SR 400. CR 4009 enters a rural landscape and again becomes two lanes wide. It crosses I-95 to CR 421, the southern terminus of the county road. This is the temporary southern terminus, because CR 4009 is planned to be extended to SR 44 as Airport Road through Samusula-Spruce Creek into New Smyrna Beach.
