The County High School Leftwich is a small sized Media Arts co-educational comprehensive school that serves approximately 900 students between 11 to 16 years of age. It is located in the district of Leftwich, Northwich in Cheshire, England. Children come here from neighbouring areas such as Moulton, Davenham, Leftwich, Kingsmead and Winsford.

There are three floors of the building, A, B, & C. The rooms have names like A22, the floor, then the number of the room. There are also some basketball courts and the MUGA, which is an astroturf pitch. Also known as the multi use games area.

Inside the building, there is a gym, which has a climbing wall in it. There is also a recording studio suite, and used to be a drama studio, which was converted, as it was really dark. Now, the media suite is cut into two areas, and is much lighter. People can do dance and drama in there. The school also offers tutoring for instruments such as the flute, keyboard and cornet. There is a band which plays at events such as the Christmas fair.

The school gets superb results results at GCSE, averaging 98% C &higher which are the best for Cheshire. However, at A level, Sir John Deanes 6th Form College, has excellent A Level results placing it third in the county of Cheshire.

[edit] History

The school used to be known as the Northwich County Grammar School, a selective single sex school with provisions for boarding pupils, which had a sixth form. The school was changed to a comprehensive in September 1978, with sixth form pupils from the school and the former Sir John Deane's Grammar School going to the new Sir John Deane's College. Essentially the two grammar schools were split into two comprehensives - one for ages 11-16 and the other for 16-18.
