Country Energy is a corporation owned by the Government of New South Wales providing gas and electricity to retail customers in New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia and the Australian Capital Territory.

In addition to electricity retailing, Country Energy operates Australia's largest electricity distribution network by area, covering 95 per cent of the area of New South Wales as well as extending into small parts of Queensland and Victoria. Country Energy has 800,000 customers, and annual revenues of $1.6 billion.

On 1 July 2005 Country Energy merged with Australian Inland rural-based energy retailer, Great Southern Energy owned by the Government of New South Wales[1].

In 2007 It was announced that the retail side of the company would most likely be privatised[2].

The four call centres are located in the New South Wales cities of Queanbeyan , Port Macquarie, Leeton and Bathurst.
