Counter Narcotics Police of Afghanistan

The Counter Narcotics Police of Afghanistan (CNPA) is specialist force under the Afghan Ministry of the Interior. Some of its officers are trained and mentored by law enforcement officers of the British HM Revenue and Customs.

The United Kingdom established and trained a Mobile Detection Unit within the CNPA, which conducts stop and search operations around Kabul. A total of 9 Mobile Detection Teams are now in operation around Afghanistan.

Up to October 1, 2004, the CNPA had seized a total of 125kg of heroin, 185kg of opium, and over a ton of precursor chemicals, and made 28 arrests.
