Councillor Island

Councillor Island is an island with an area of 10.53 ha, in south-eastern Australia. It is part of Tasmania’s New Year Island Group, which includes the much larger King Island, lying north-west of Tasmania in Bass Strait.

Breeding seabird and shorebird species include Little Penguin, Short-tailed Shearwater, Fairy Prion, Common Diving-Petrel, Pacific Gull, Silver Gull, Sooty Oystercatcher, Black-faced Cormorant and Caspian Tern. Reptiles include Eastern Blue-tongued Lizard. [1]
