Cosumnes Oaks High School is the newest high school established in the Elk Grove Unified School District. The school will be opening for the first time for the 2008-2009 school year.
The Cosumnes River is the most prominent geographical feature of the southern part of the Elk Grove Unified School District. The high school is named after the river and the many oak trees in the area, creating a strong link between the river and the Cosumnes River Preserve.
Cosumnes Oaks High School will share a combined campus with Elizabeth Pinkerton Middle School.[1]
