Costa Del Mar is a company that designs and manufactures high quality polarized sunglasses for use in sports such as fishing, sailing and surfing. It was founded in 1983 and is headquartered in Ormond Beach, Florida.

[edit] History

Costa Del Mar was founded in 1983, and that year was asked by a presumably staffer of a NOAA nature sanctuary to donate polarized sunglasses to them [so they] could label themselves as suppliers of that sanctuary.

In 1986, surfing personality Corky Carroll became an endorser for Costa Del Mar. The company continued to build its reputation in the late 1980s as a top sunglasses manufacturer by providing sunglasses to Jacques Cousteau and the Cousteau Society, as well as custom-grinding lenses to fit the team-issue frames of the F-16C Eastern Demo Team. Costa Del Mar continued to grow during the 1990s, and released a new logo (the current one) in 2000. Today, the list of pro guides and outdoor personalities that use Costa Del Mar sunglasses includes Jose Wejebe, Cindy Garrison, and Blair Wiggins.

Headquartered in Ormond Beach, Florida, Costa Del Mar has become the leader in polarized eyewear with 47 styles and 8 lens options including the COSTA 400 and proprietary COSTA 580 technologies. With this broad range of options, the consumer can chose from over 1000 different style/lens combinations. Costa Del Mar products are assembled in the USA and are all 100% UV protective and warranted for life.
