Coseley railway station is located in the Coseley area of the borough of Dudley, West Midlands, England. It is situated on the West Coast Main Line. The station, and all trains serving it, are operated by London Midland.
[edit] History
The present Coseley station opened in 1902. It replaced an earlier station, named Deepfields and Coseley, which opened in 1852 and was situated 400 yards along the track.
[edit] Services
Coseley is typically served by three trains per hour each way.
One of these is a local service between Wolverhampton and Birmingham New Street operated by London Midland. These services are half-hourly but only one train per hour each way stops at Coseley. On the route, one train calls at Coseley and not Sandwell and Dudley and vice versa. This service is operated by Class 323 Electric Multiple Units. These are reputed to be ready for a change over to Class 321 units cascaded from Silverlink.
The second service is a longer Central Citylink service, to or from Liverpool Lime Street or Crewe. The southbound service then heads straight into Birmingham New Street. The northbound service calls at Wolverhampton and stations onto Crewe and then Liverpool Lime Street. Again this service alternates between calling at Coseley and Sandwell and Dudley. This service is operated by Desiro Class 350 units, which use overhead power.
The final service is an hourly service for local stations to Shrewsbury operated by London Midland. It is operated by Class 170 diesel multiple units.
