Since you ask, I think it's excellent for a first article. You might also want to take a look at my response to your comments on Talk:Scottsboro Boys. Regards, Newyorkbrad 21:43, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks! I do plan on expanding it eventually, but I wanted to get something done. I did see your response to my comments on Talk:Scottsboro Boys. I'm actually thinking of writing either a stub or an article on Norris vs. Alabama, but not yet. Australian Raven 21:47, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
- You're welcome. Changing gears, if you are going to use "Australian Raven" as your signature, you might want to create User:Australian Raven with a userpage redirect to C. coronoides, lest someone assume A.R. is your username and try to reach you there. Regards, Newyorkbrad 21:51, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
- Ah. I will do so... as soon as I go search 'how to create a redirect.' Australian Raven 21:52, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

- I second that it is an excellent first article. A few comments, though. First off, its nice to link to the species author. A good resource for finding the full name is this. I keep a link to it on my user page in my toolbox. A few more wikilinks around wouldn't hurt, see what I did to the intro. And finally its good to cite the sources you used at the bottom. But really, those are cosmetic changes, all easily fixed. Well done! Sabine's Sunbird talk 21:55, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the feedback, but I don't understand what you mean by the species author. I did check the link you have, but it looks a little confusing. Also, when citing sources here, how do you do so? What format is used? (The main reason I didn't is because I wasn't sure what format to use) I took a look at what you did to the intro, and it makes sense to me. I'll be sure to do that in the future. Australian Raven 22:00, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
- You seem to have figured out the author. Check out WP:CITE#HOW for hints about citing. You can use whatever system or format you like pretty much, there isn't much agreement about it. Sabine's Sunbird talk 23:38, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, I figured out the author. Thanks for the hints about citing. I added a pretty loose citation of the two sites you pointed out to me. Any other feedback about anything is also welcome!Australian Raven 14:10, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

Images
You can look for any image you want to use and then attempt to ask the owner to agree to freely license the image. See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for help with that. You can also look at commons:Main page, all the images there are already uploaded and ready for use here, just as if they were uploaded here! But it's unlikely you'll find something there but it's still worth a shot. You can also go look at http://www.flickr.com and go under "Advanced search" and check all three boxes under "Creative Commons" and you may find some images there. You can search flickr for all images (without checking all three boxes under creative commons on the advanced search page) and you can ask the owner to relicense the image that is more compatible for our use. IF you find an image there, I can help you with this. I've actually had about 50% success rate with this. If you do find images at flickr for use, you should upload those to commons as they have an automated system to verify the license to protect our use of the image in the future, and we're not setup for that. You could also attempt to take pictures of the birds yourself, perhaps at a zoo? Lastly, and really, this should be considered a last resort, since you would have a tough time rationalizing this as not replaceable since the birds exist, they are just "obscure": you can use fair use. Fair use means we don't care what the copyright status of the image is, but we can use a limited selection of the image (meaning reduced in size) under fair use. If you end up going this route, you'll have to write a rationale and ensure your images meet our policy, you can read up on it at WP:FUC and WP:FUP (which also contains WP:FUC). That's about all the advice I have at the moment. I can help you more detailed once you find an image or two that we can/you want to use. Lemme know what you find and good luck! --MECU≈talk 22:08, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
- No bother at all. You don't have to give your real name, but it might help. And yes, you use your own email address. You can setup a temp fake one if you want to help protect yourself, though that doesn't seem needed to me. Also, just provide the URL to the image so they know what you're talking about. I'm not really sure what you mean by copy the url/give a link, that's really the same thing. It's good to give a link to the article where you want to use it. Also, stress that they must license the image freely, and not just for use on that article page or just on Wikipedia. We can't use those images and they will get speedily deletion. Good luck! --MECU≈talk 00:09, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

Your VandalProof Application
Dear Corvus coronoides,
Thank you for applying for VandalProof! (VP). As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact the just released 1.3 version has even more power. Because of this we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. The reason for this is that at this time you do not meet the minimum requirement of 250 edits to mainspace articles (see under main here). Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again soon. Thank you for your interest in VandalProof. Daniel 06:54, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

Crown Fountain Interactivity
By interactive, it is meant that instead of being a sculpture to look at it is a sculpture to play in. This is totally obvious by the pictures. I will change a few sentences to make this clearer in the article. --TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 15:24, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
- P.S. Here is a sentence that discusses the designed interactivity: "a plastic nozzle was fitted to the stainless steel frame to control the waterflow at a rate that will not cause the city to be liable for injury by interactive participants". It has been in the article.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 15:32, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

Your "accusation"
As this is not article specific, I will move to user talk pages. Accusing me of being not civil? Come now. I'm complaining about the system and Wiki processes, not people. As a member of the community, I assert my right to express my opinion, politely, but forcefully if need be. As for consensus: group solidarity in sentiment and belief; general agreement; unanimity; the judgement arrived at by most of those concerned. In Wikipedia, we do not have a group vote, or a majority opinion. In fact we are proud that we don't (can't figure out why, myself). Instead, we have an endless series of straw polls from the minority, those who are on line at a given time who happen to notice the issue. And so, standards and practices swing widely. The majority never expresses their opinion and we can, by definition, never reach consensus.
I, for one, think that many of the more recent trends have problems, short and long term. Several other long term users, including admins, seem to agree with me. If we really wish to gain consensus, I think that Wikipedia should strive to reach the majority of regular users on significant policy and procedural issues. We have a list of registered users, after all. Why not post a weekly list of issues for "voting". If possible, I would vote for a reference system based on an academic standard (take your pick, there are several) -- including in-line citations for direct and indirect quotations and statistics, and bibliography/references for general usage. Frankly, a good reference section is the most important thing Wikipedia can contribute as it has the potential to induce our users to read and form their own opinions. So, anything "uncivil" about that? None-the-less --my best wishes.......WBardwin 19:51, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
-
- Note that I did not nominate the article -- I have never nominated one, although I was tempted once. As I don't think the review system is objective and useful, it seems a waste of editors and reviewers time. As for sarcasm, I'll admit it. How many of our articles, from topic sentence to references, do you think end up in teachers' in boxes? Is that Wikipedia's real purpose? If so, we should all be paid for the effort. Cirque du Soleil
Hi Corvus, I've been working for the last few weeks on the article in my sandbox which I'm intending to eventually replace the Cirque du Soleil article in place right now. I'm intending to get it to a point where it will be ready to go for GA status immediately after I finish. Could you look it over and give me any pointers that come to mind - though keep in mind that it's still a work in progress and is not yet the final product. Trusilver 16:09, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for your help, I'm sure you know how difficult it can be to copyedit your own work. After I've ready a paragraph for the hundredth time, I cease to be able to see anything wrong with it no matter how much I look. Below the Saltimbanco section, I have mostly not even touched the article with the exception of the "in Popular Culture" section which I have cut out and sent straight to hell (as I feel popular culture sections should be). I'm sure it's going to turn into a battle down the road, but I will deal with that then. Trusilver 19:04, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
- You're welcome. I just thought it'd be a waste of time to point out minor things to you when I could much more quickly fix them myself. I'm still reading through the article, though. Cheers, Corvus coronoides talk 19:07, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
- This is very good. There are just a couple of things I'd suggest:
- You're welcome. I just thought it'd be a waste of time to point out minor things to you when I could much more quickly fix them myself. I'm still reading through the article, though. Cheers, Corvus coronoides talk 19:07, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
- "By the time he returned back home to Canada in 1979, he had learned the art of fire breathing." - could do with a source.
- "As part of a publicity stunt to convince the Quebec government to help fund his production, Ste-Croix walked the fifty-six miles from Baie-Saint-Paul to Quebec City on stilts." Again, a source would be helpful - if this is covered by a later source, I'd still say source the end of this sentence to make it clear.
- In the Saltimbaco section, I think a source is needed for that quote - if that external link is it, it should be in normal cite format.
- The Cirque du Soleil Image section could do with some sources - always good to have sources.
Other than that, all I'd suggest is converting the sources from just links to Wikipedia cite format (with page names and other info). I could help with that, if you wish. It's well written, and I think if the sources are converted and a few more sources are added, it should pass GA with no problem, or with a few minor fixes. Cheers, Corvus coronoides talk 19:16, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

- Thank you for your help. I was thinking of taking the fire breathing sentence out altogether. I covered that in Laliberte's own article when I wrote it, and carried it over to this one. However, it doesn't seen to provide any meaningful purpose. You are correct with the stilt walk to Quebec City, it is covered in the ref at the end of the paragraph, but I will move it also to that sentence for clarity.
-
-
-
-
-
- The external link at the end of the Saltimbanco section is the quote, however what you are looking at there is really the tattered edge of the article, the link hasn't been made yet just because I haven't gotten around to it yet. I still have ten more years of history to write before I'm finished. After that I'm going to go to the parts below that, the original article, and clean it up.
-
-
-
-
-
- As far as the linking goes, I would be ecstatic to have your help with that. As it is I think that this article is going to consume at least the next month of my life and any help would be much appreciated. Trusilver 19:22, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
-
-
My only major concern though is that so much of what I'm putting into this article comes from a book on my desk which while it is a damn-near exhaustive history of Cirque du Soleil, it is an "official" history and thus I try to not rely on it wherever I can find other sources. Let me know if it appears that I'm leaning against it too much. Trusilver 19:26, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
-
- I'll let you know if I see it coming up too much, but I think that although it's official it still sounds like a wonderful source of information. I'll tackle the sources then - I know what you mean about the article consuming your life - Wood Thrush did that to me and I'm just taking a break doing less life-consuming tasks before I tackle my next project, American Robin. Cheers, Corvus coronoides talk 19:30, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

Solar Power
I've been agressively working on this article lately. As part of the changes I've asked that the title be changed to Solar energy. I would have changed the name but I don't want to screw up the redirects. You have stated your indifference but I think this is a needed change. Is this something you can do? Also, it would be nice to get some protection from the constant vandalism. Can you request that again.
I've been working on the "to do" list. I've expanded the intro and separated the photovoltaic and thermal technologies. I've polished the prose and continue to do so. I've stayed away from working on sources for now. A lot of the information in sourced from John Perlin or other wikipedia articles. This is still a "to do". I added some pictures but better pictures should be acquired.
Some of the items on the "to do" list ask for information which is better covered in other areas. i.e. several requests for information on PV. So I think the "to do" list itself should be revisited. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mrshaba (talk • contribs) 23:31, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

Question tag
Clinical Psychology and Crown Fountain have notes on the talk page for needed improvements. Those are why you got tagged. LARA♥LOVE 04:13, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, okay, I understand what you're asking now. The difference between the use of "Not done" and "Question", in this situation, is a matter of quality. Passed articles tagged with the former clearly fail to meet the criteria and received an inadequate review. In the case of failed articles, there was practically no review, which is inappropriate for any nominee that isn't a quick-fail, which did not count toward scores. Some editors decided to tag their articles as fails when they were actually quick-fails, which is kind of cheating for the purpose of awards. Passed articles tagged with the latter are those that received a decent review, but there were some over-looked issues. These are articles that can be quickly brought up to standards, but currently don't meet the criteria.
- Now, as far as editors being tagged on the main drive page, that is just a reflection of how their articles are tagged. For yours, I gave up on jumping to the talk page to list everything because it became pointless. It started out as a list of articles with issues for the coordinators to look over, but it quickly became apparent that this was my job and no one else was doing anything about it. I'm not even sure if those articles listed on the project talk page have anything on their talk pages... I should probably check on that. Anyway, it's just a matter of there being some issues that need to be addressed. The point initially was to determine who earned awards or not, but that kind of got shot to Hell since they were handed out the day after the drive ended, so now I'm just doing it for project quality. Lara♥Love 04:48, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

- On my user page, under the Wikipedia section, there is a link to my GAC reviews (or I may have it labeled GAN reviews. Either way, if you are interested to see what I look for, check those out. It hasn't been updated in the past couple weeks or so, but you'll see how my reviews progressed as I did more. I'm nit-picky though. My initial reviews, in particular, were overly picky. It was a matter of learning and interpreting the criteria and such. And I still get flamed for pointing out things not in the criteria, so I've begun to just correct those myself. Anyway, let me know if you have any questions.

GA passing
Regarding this GA pass, please review GA's instructions on passing GAs. Thanks, SandyGeorgia (Talk) 21:13, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
- There's always an oldid; it's the number on the version you were reviewing. Click on the History tab of the article, then click on the date of the last version, and you'll see an oldid at the end of the URL. Let me know if you need more help, not sure that's clear enough. Maybe you can get the GA folks to improve their instructions so that part will be easier for future GA reviewers to find? I end up cleaning up these matters when I'm going through the WP:FACs to make sure they're ready for GimmeBot conversion to {{ArticleHistory}}. Official Invitation to GA Sweeps
I would like to invite you to participate at GA Sweeps. We decided it's time to give GA a good sweep to ensure the qualities of all GA articles. You recevied this invitation because we felt that you can improve and uphold the quality of Good articles. This is the reason why only experienced reviewers who are established (trusted) within the project should participate in this sweep initially.
Please take a look at the project page and see if you wish to participate in the Sweeps. OhanaUnitedTalk page 15:52, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
- No worries about being unfamiliar with GA sweeps. (Why?) Because this is the first time we organize a GA Sweeps. Everyone is still on learning-mode and ther'es no such as being "inexperienced to do GA Sweeps". GA Sweeps is the same as GAC and GAR. You're checking if the article's quality satisify GA standards. The only difference is that you're choosing a sub-category of GA (for example, philosophy) in the sweep list that nobody has taken that category. And then you sweep the articles at your own pace when you have spare time. Full process can be found at Process. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. OhanaUnitedTalk page 23:08, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
-
- Don't forget to add your name in Wikipedia:WikiProject Good articles/Project quality task force/Sweeps/Running total and keep track of the articles that you swept. OhanaUnitedTalk page 00:33, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

GA Sweeps
Thank you for helping with the GA sweeps, we need all of the help we can get! I just wanted to point out a few things for future reviews you may do. You delisted two articles, which I agree with. Once you have decided to delist an article, please add the Template:ArticleHistory to the talk page (if it doesn't already have it) showing when the article initially passed, any peer reviews it has had, and when you delisted it (if you're not familiar with it, I'd recommend previewing the page a bunch of times before saving as the template can be complicated at times). Also the regular GA template would be removed and any banners that show the article being GA class should be downgraded to B class. Also, go to WP:GA and remove the articles you delisted. I've already done Sequoia and Ammonite for you, so please take a glance over those for future reference. Again, I appreciate your help and just wanted to point this out so we can keep the delisted articles out of GA. Keep up the good work and if you have any questions, let me know on my talk page and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. --Nehrams2020 03:11, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
