[edit] William Henry Leonard Poe
This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of William Henry Leonard Poe, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.usna.edu/EnglishDept/poeperplex/whlpoep.htm. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.
This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 23:09, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Copyright problems

[edit] Notability of William Henry Leonard Poe
A tag has been placed on William Henry Leonard Poe requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Corvus cornixtalk 23:22, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
- Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from William Henry Leonard Poe a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag. (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag) and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. Corvus cornixtalk 23:33, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with William Henry Leonard Poe. Please use the {{hangon}} template on the page instead if you disagree with the deletion. Thank you. Corvus cornixtalk 23:38, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
I don't understand what you're trying to say with I AM SORRY BUT I HAVE TO DISAGREE WITH YOU. YES I DID USE THAT CITE AS A SOURCE BUT NOT AS COPYRIGHTING. DO YOU SEE THAT EXACT SENTENCE ANYWHERE? ALSO, PEOPLE CAN ADD ON TO THIS CITE AS NEEDED THIS IS JUST A START. I AM ALSO SORRY ABOUT DELETING THE SECURITY THING ON EDGAR ALLAN POE.... The tag that's currently on there discusses the notability of the subject, not copyright. In addition, your comments should go on the article's Talk page. I will move them there. Corvus cornixtalk 23:52, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Edward Allan Poe
Removal of an {{sprotected2}} tag, like you did at Edgar Allan Poe, is considered vandalism. Please don't do that again. SORRY DIDN"T MEAN TO DO THAT :( Corvus cornixtalk 23:41, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Don't get discouraged...
Welcome to Wikipedia, eh? I'm sorry you've had a rough start. I think Poe's brother is a perfectly valid topic, and I'll try to take a trip to the library sometime this week to help you expand the article. Zagalejo^^^ 05:52, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
- Well, looks like User:Midnightdreary has already done a lot of work. Zagalejo^^^ 17:20, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
Wow he has done very well to try to help this page fly by the deletion round. We may need more sources though.Corpus1 (talk) 20:51, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
- I'll echo Zagalejo's apology for your intro to Wikipedia. Wikipedia can be a little cutthroat but it's fun and rewarding too. Let me know if you ever need any help. --Midnightdreary (talk) 23:00, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Welcome
I saw your comment at Talk:Craig's Brother and I see that you are new. We all were new at some time, even the most experienced admins! I think it's much harder to be new right now than what it was when I started in 2005. I also am willing to explain the confusing parts to you if you want, although I don't want to be an official mentor/adopter.
Feel free to improve the references on any problem that you see. The place to comment on keeping or deleting an article that is nominated for deletion (the shorthand is AFD [Articles for Deletion]) is by following the "this article's entry" link on the top of the page and give your rationale for keeping or deleting. You should review the reasons for keeping at WP:NOTE before commenting. I'm sure that this article will remain with 3 keeps and 0 deletes, but improving the article will help its case even more.
Make sure that when you add sources to articles that they are reliable and independent from what the article is about. So you weren't helping very much to prove the notability of the Leadenhall Market when you added a reference to its official website since it is not independent. You added a better reference when you added a reference to the City of London official website, except if they ran the market. The best types of references are major newspapers or magazines like the London Times or the New York Times, or books from major publishing companies. I hope this comment is helpful! Happy editing.
