- If you have copied text to which you own the copyright: Please read the guide to donating your own copyrighted material to Wikipedia. Note that, in addition to copyright requirements, the article must still comply with notability guidelines, advertising prohibition and avoid conflicts of interest.
- If you have been given permission to reuse someone else's text: Please read the guide to requesting and formalizing permission to use copyrighted works on Wikipedia. As above, the article must still comply with notability guidelines, advertising prohibition and avoid conflicts of interest.
- If you were attempting to rename an article or create a disambiguation page: Compliance with the GFDL requires that the article be actually moved rather than copied with cut-and-paste to preserve editing history. Please tag the new copy with {{db-move}} and an administrator will be able to assist you.
- If the original source was itself a copy of Wikipedia text: Reusing the text is probably okay, but make sure you link back to the original article to comply with the GFDL. If the site CSBot found is a Wikipedia mirror, you may want to notify me so I can add it to the list for the future.
- If the original source is in the public domain: Reusing the text is okay, but you almost certainly want to attribute it with an appropriate template (such as {{DANFS}} or {{1911}}); this will cause CSBot to leave the article alone.
- If you did attribute it with an appropriate template, but it was still flagged as a copyvio, then it's probable the bot does not know the template you have used. You might want to tell me on this page so I can add it to the list.
Otherwise, remember that text found on other web pages is copyrighted by default. Unless there is an explicit permission on the page (or site) allowing reuse without conditions (or under the GFDL) you can not use that text in a Wikipedia article!
Thank you!

Esasus (Esasus (talk) 16:36, 15 May 2008 (UTC)) I am attempting to move the article on author "George Scurfield" to "George Bazeley Scurfield" to avoid future confusion with others of his same name.

Hi - I created Common Ground Community but the organization is simply Common Ground therefore I did not copy and paste from that website to the Common Ground one to in a way that violates the copyright.

[edit] Nabari no Ou
Coren, the contents of the Nabari no Ou page in Wikipedia does not include a substantial copy of: http://www.xanadu-dreams.net/timcampi.html Your bot should take this into consideration.

[edit] Cathal Twomey
I recently editted the summary of Finding the Fox, which was at that time part of the aricle on the Shapeshifter series. When I had completed my editting, I realised that the summary was far too long not to be in an article of its own. I therefore created one. However, before I could remove the version of the summary from the Shapeshifter article, I recieved a complaint from Coren that my summary appeared to be a copy of the Shapeshifter article. I have since removed the summary from the Shapeshifter article, and the only version of it now exists in the Finding the Fox article. I apologise for any inconvenience I may have caused. [edit] hey
Your bot posted a possible copyright tag on the page "Mark del Castillo" I'm working at. Bot was right with couple of sentences I missed when editing the article, so I replaced them with my words and remove the tag from the article. Justahomosapiens (talk) 23:46, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Principles of Public Information
Your bot posted a possble copyright infringement. The publication cited was originally issued by the US National Commission on Libraries and Information Science and then quoted by CNI. As a US Government publication, the Principles are in the public domain as defined under Title 17 USC §105. I have added a public domain statement to the site. Thank you,

[edit] Experimental Psychologist
Your bot deleted my stub about this. The stub was an excerpt from a reference site, which allowed such things. Probably a mistake.

[edit] Lafayette Morehouse
I'm sorry, I am in the process of editing, and was using the copyrighted text as source material which I will modify and to which I will add substantially. Since it is an article about a community, I wished to base the article on their self-description out of respect, which is why I used the text from their website as a template. Editing is on-going, and no violation was intended. Zoticogrillo (talk) 07:52, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Resection
Hiya. Your bot was accurate, but premature. The resection page was a mix of information and disambiguation, so I was attempting to sort it out. This involved taking a large chunk of the page and moving it to a new article, then sorting out what was left for disambiguation. I'd just saved the 'chunk' and got a message from your bot about possible duplication - so it was true, but only for a few minutes until I removed that chunk from the original page. Maybe you could build a short delay in - say 5 or 10 minutes before notification, but it's no big deal. Considering the throughput on WP, I'm impressed at the speed it picked it up ! :-) CultureDrone (talk) 09:08, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Husby, Stockholm
The bot got confused when I split off a section from the Husby article to the Husby, Stockholm article. It claimed it found the same text on some other site, as the text was some RSS feed thingy which had the article text in it. [1] Well, duh, no wonder it found the same text elsewhere... –– TimSE 12:29, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Marginalia Project
hi,
the page i created for marginalia project [of which i am one of the two authors] was deleted due to copyright issues. very funny, if we consider: 1st: the work is distributed under creative commons license; 2nd: i am one of the authors of the project... and therefore would own any copyright of the work if that was the case...
please check this again and republish the page as soon as possible,

[edit] Two Lights State Park - Maine
I am the Web administrator for the Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands and am posting information about our parks to Wikipedia by copying text from our Web pages and pasting into Wiki. I received a "blatant copyright infringement" deletion because the text matched text from http://www.themaineshop.com/parks/twolights.htm. This text was copied from our public site by this business and pasted into theirs. As a public agency, we have no problem allowing people to take text and images from our site but we do reserve the right to be allowed to post our own text and language on sites such as Wikipedia even if someone else has copied our text to their page first.
