[edit] Knowledge is Power
I was born in New York. I'm used to be an international marketing consultant as well as a cunning linguist (!), and in my job I mainly edit text for clarity. I'm shocked at the current state of language in the English-speaking world and the badly put together sentences that I see.
After 9/11 I found that I was helping my clients re-adjust to the workplace... see, lots of people had problems with personal priorities. Days after 9/11, people sat down at their desk thinking "what am I getting upset over computers for... my family is more important!" or, "what am I doing with my life in computers... I need to find a girl and get married!".
I've got credentials and degrees in engineering, therapy, and linguistics. which makes me a real hoot at parties.
Speaking of parties, I'm a moderate extremist(!). Never get your politics or any opinion from anyone that's angry... history has shown that just gets you Germans marching down the streets of Paris again.
As you can see from the History for this page, I've been in Wiki since 2004 and finally decided to register later that year.
You'll see me editing articles for three reasons:
- The first is accuracy
- The second is to remove linguistic bias
- The third is to make the article easier to understand.
Wiki is a terrific project but I just wish that people would just teach themselves how to write better. I see massive run-on sentences all the time. Make it shorter, people. And try to have some patience!
Enough for now.
