My name is Cormac Lawler - I'm a PhD candidate at the University of Manchester, studying Wikiversity, and trying to improve it. Previously, I've studied how the Wikipedia project is constructing a learning community as much as it is creating an encyclopedia, which was the basis for my M.Ed dissertation in Communication, Education and Technology (also in Manchester). I'm very interested in online collaboration and community building and I am particularly studying interpersonal dynamics, conflict resolution and identity within collaborative projects. I'd like to improve education-related articles in Wikipedia through the Education WikiProject - though I am mainly taken up with Wikiversity activities. I can be contacted at cormaggio (at) yahoo.co.uk or cormaggio (at) gmail.com. I also keep a blog for my research, and other random musings.
