EARLY CAREER

As Director of Pediatrics for Excelth, Inc., Clinical Pediatrician for New Orleans City Health Dept, and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Tulane University, Dr. Hebert saw the needs of the downtrodden of New Orleans, which were not being addressed. Dr. Hebert took the bull by the horns started to produce and host an informative TV show about pediatric issues that were unique to the inner city. The show is aptly titled “Urban Pediatrics” and is still very well received by the parents in the greater New Orleans area.

Dr. Hebert has a very unique charm which allows him to talk to urban youth and chairmen of boards with the same level of acceptance and respect. This is an extremely difficult balancing act, and this is what separates him from so many others in his fields of pursuit. “I want to be able to talk to the janitor and the chief of staff so that both can understand what I am telling them, says Dr. Hebert, “This is what exemplifies a great communicator.” All the while, Dr. Hebert garnered many more accolades in the city of New Orleans such as being recognized an being one of the “30 Leaders of the Future” in Ebony magazine, one of the “40 under 40” in Gambit Weekly, and he was also picked by CitiBusiness Magazine as one of the “People to Watch in New Orleans”. This year saw the event serve 850 kids, all on one day. This feat had never been accomplished in this city and many thought it could never be, but Dr. Hebert’s feeling was “…if it needs to be done for the community, then it must be done for the community.” Dr. Hebert has also secured free immunizations for the entire Louisiana Recovery School District, to ensure compliance for the totality of children in Hurricane Katrina ravaged New Orleans.
