[edit] Basel: A Cultural Experience

This is not spanning nor self-promotion. The book is a worthy compliment to Basel in the time of Burkhardt & Bachoffen by Gossman(mis-titled by somebody else).

Suggest you read 'Basel: A Cultural Experience' before making any further judgements. As regards "self-promotion", Mrs. Kearney edited both the first edition of BACE in 1987 which sold 2000 copies and the current edition which has sold over 1,200 copies, more than Gossman's book has sold in Basel.

Hi, first of all please sign your messages (with ~~~~). Secondly, the point is not if the work is valid or not (it might well be). The point is that Wikipedia is an encyclopedic work and not a list of books. Please read the following Wikipedia guidelines:

[edit] Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines

Why did you revert my perfectly fine edit to VtmB and warn me for it? I added a citation where it was requested.

Hi, first of all sign your messages. I suppose you are speaking of the entry marked vandalize where you removed a reference and put an URL of a download site. I think that no comment is necessary: wikipedia is not a reference of spam links. Matteo

Archive.org is not a "download" or "spam" site. It's the Internet Wayback Machine, and the link was an archived article that was the source of the 70,000 units/3,4mln sold statement in the VtmB article. MyPearlNecklace

Dear MyPearlNecklace I did not revert your change. I reverted edit [1] from Dmeist. It can also happen to revert the wrong entry but looking at the history it seems that I removed the correct one. Matteo

[edit] why did you remove our link?

Hello,

why did you remove link to Handster.com from "Pocket PC" external links section? It is independent Pocket PC software portal, while you keep links to resellers of other portals??

Hi, the reason is simple. It has no encyclopedic value (see [2]). And in fact you are right there are other links that does not adhere to Wikipedia's policies. I noticed yours only since I was monitoring changes (and not looking at older edits) Matteo 14:23, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
Hi Matteo, thank you for the reply. It could be very usefull for end-user to find links with Pocket PC software on this page. For many users it will be new and important thing - you will be surpised to know that only about 1/3 of Pocket PC owners know and install custom software. May be you could add independent Pocket PC software distributors, like: Handango.com, PocketGear.com and Handster.com?
Maybe but this is not the scope of Wikipedia. You look at (as I already mentioned) Wikipedia:Spam you will see why. You should also become accostumed to wikipedia discussions (e.g., sign your posts with ~~~~, put a : in front of your reply to indent it) and discuss this matter on Talk:Pocket_PC where I started a discussion. Other readers could appreciate your comments and have different opinions than mine. But the bottom line is that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia not a link directory: there are other sites and means to promote a commercial site.Matteo 15:21, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

Hmmm hi Corti. I wasn't experimenting in that page, I was correcting a mistake. "Vitulia" is a latin word, the Greek word was 'Italia', spelled in the Cumaea alphabet as 'ITALIA', accented in 'I'. Miskin 15:43, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

Sorry I reverted too quickly ... (there is so much spam in the page that the capitalization caught my eye) Sorry Matteo 15:48, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

I thought the revert was done automatically so I provided the explanation in the article's Talk page before seeing your answer. Miskin 16:01, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

I used capitalisation because that's how it was written in the western greek alphabet. Miskin 16:02, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] IPv4

Wondering why you called the link I added yesterday to IPv4 spam? I am a neutral third party (with plenty of WP experience) and I put it there because it seems to be the most inert one out there - I say inert meaning there don't seem to be any ads on it so no real benefit to the recipient (whom I have nothing to do with). I was hoping we could leave that one up so all these annoying .biz (and today .tk) wouldn't be there; it's a neat resource for people who aren't familiar with things like IPs to see what theirs is. — RevRagnarok Talk Contrib 12:23, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

I removed it since it has not encyclopedic value. There is no informational value in fining out one's IP: it gives not information about the concept.Matteo 13:29, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
I disagree; moving this to Talk:IPv4. — RevRagnarok Talk Contrib 13:47, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Friedrich Kellner

I hope you can help me, please. I translated the Friedrich Kellner article into Italian using an automatic translator. A few people in Italy helped to correct the first half of the article, but there are still approximately 700 words that need to be double-checked. I have placed the text on my user page at this site: Rskellner. Would have some time to look at that page and help me improve the Italian? I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Scott (Dr. Robert Scott Kellner, College Station, Texas) --Rskellner 23:01, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

I guess I won't have to trouble you after all. To my pleasant surprise, the translation has now been finished by someone from Italy. Thank you anyways. Scott --Rskellner 17:39, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

Do not presume to lecture me about my Castro edit. Castro took property that belonged to American companies that is stealing.65.96.132.149 12:32, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
