Talk:Corpus Catholicorum (series)

[edit] Reason for undoing redirect
I moved the page back from Corpus Catholicorum to its original title - Corpus Catholicorum (Series) – so it can be clearly distinguished from the so-called “organization of Roman Catholic states” which also goes by the name Corpus Catholicorum. Undoubtedly User:Jeodesic just wasn’t aware of this and, until just recently, neither was I. My thanks to him anyway for his efforts.
Below is a brief definition of both the Corpus Catholicorum (Series) and the Corpus Catholicorum (Organization of Catholic States), from the Christian Cyclopedia by the Lutheran Church (Missouri Synod).
- 1. Organization of RC states of the Holy Roman Empire that furthered RC interests; formed ca. 1524; countered by the Corpus* Evangelicorum; ended 1806 at the dissolution of the empire.
- 2. Published series comprising works of prominent RC writers of the Reformation period (e.g., J. Eck,* H. Emser,* and J. Cochlaeus*). The soc. for pub. was organized 1917 at Münster by J. Greving and transferred later that yr. to Bonn. The soc. also pub. Reformationsgeschichtliche Studien und Texte.

A number of Wikipedia articles already use Corpus Catholicorum in the sense of an organization of Catholic States. http://www.google.com/search?as_q=%22Corpus+Evangelicorum%22&hl=en&num=10&btnG=Google+Search&as_epq=corpus+catholicorum&as_oq=&as_eq=&lr=&cr=&as_ft=i&as_filetype=&as_qdr=all&as_nlo=&as_nhi=&as_occt=any&as_dt=i&as_sitesearch=wikipedia.org&as_rights=&safe=images
