[edit] Fastest Foreign Language Learning Aids

A previous post on language learning has me starting a a new line dedicated to help foreign language enthusiasts. My aids have been downloads for free. I'm learning Mandarin. Here's a good blog that might be helpful to you. http://bloggerwhale.blogspot.com/2007/04/how-to-learn-foreign-languages-for-free.html Please fellow foreign language learners post your aids and techniques you've found of great assist! Langfan (talk) 01:36, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

Chinese is my first language, my second native language is English. I have noticed a coming from two language backgrounds in youth contributes to learning language easily. For my friends who ask me to teach them Chinese, I see that it is the difference in tongue and jaw position between languages that most frustrates. Tantan2009 (talk) 02:51, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] El Salvador

I come originally from Usulutan. In wiki, why is there so much info on Vietnam on American involvement but no so much on American involvement in El Salvador? There is so much history going back to the 19th century. This is one of the few pages even mentioning. There must be more pages created on a very ugly history in Central America. Does anyone have more information to create more pages? Guanaco77 (talk) 14:33, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Photos

Anyone got copyright free photos of the bio subject? Twilliams2 (talk) 00:46, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

--- Try the Associated Press in New York, or the San Francisco Chronicle. They often release photos for a nominal fee. The front page of the Chronicle is an AP photo. Hope this helps. Freewheeling1 (talk) 00:49, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

--- On the subject of photographs, have you seen the guys work? http://www.corkincombat.com/gallery2/v/corkincombat/rubio_saline.jpg.html that's just phuuuuckked uppp! Costasmosste (talk) 01:32, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] So Bizarre

The book is good. A bit much of the introspection, but that's likely because I prefer Ludlum's books. Ordered the autobiography on Amazon after hearing him speak on KFOG in 2005/2006(?). He's hilarious! KFOG is the BEST morning show in the world! Oraclewiz22 (talk) 18:35, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

This is such a bizarre story. I remember when it happened. He was just a kid! I was just entering high school in 1984, and he couldn't have been much older than me. —Preceding comment added byGuaylo5 (talk) 18:06, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

You are the only westerner in history to become fluent in Korean in a year. You forgot to mention your hypnosis work!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Samatucci (talk • contribs) 14:08, 3 April 2008 (UTC) Actually, Samatucci, I believe he was there for less than a year. Good work on his reference checks! Odaesu (talk) 00:59, 5 April 2008 (UTC) I must emfaticly agree! I read his book, what bunch drivel--I can not believe so many reader make Topseller Amazon.com or they give so many gold star, ridiculous! What Vietnamese government gain by lying to his parents and the US government about them imprisoning him? And who actually attain fluency in any language in just one year???? That impossible. Good job Samatucci for bringing views on charlatanisme to light! I sure it well help other see truth! Travelgal1978(talk) 05:37, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

I had heard that a fellow teacher at Incheon English Village was on wikipedia and that he was being slandered by a number of jealous insecure teachers that I hsd the displeasure of interacting with until I was able to leave my contract. I had never met a bunch of losers in my life! That they are now trying to slander Mr. Graham is no surprise. I, like a few other friends who interacted with ICEV "teachers", was tipped off by the Samatucci as to who these people really are. Stephen was always trying to learn Korean so that he could get laid. Looking at his picture, I'm sure you agree he wasn't so successful. His real name is Stephen Amatucci, but I'm sure there are more at that school that's really a hideout for those who couldn't get a job back in the States, Canada and UK, much less a respectable job in Korea: no wonder KBS always has prime material for slams on waegooks...with English teachers like this. Check em out! The men look look like a bunch of mugshots at Trenton State Correctional http://www.icev.go.kr/eng/discovery/tutor/list.jsp I'm so glad I didn't have as much time as Graham with these losers, and he lasted longer than me there before he was lucky enough to get a job with the Korean Army. So, Stephen, baby, how come you haven't gone anywhere except ICEV, eh? Please do check the links below readers, perhaps notice that they do go to sources other than Graham's website. How does Stephen, excuse me, "Samatucci" (don't you love how vocal people can be on this site when they think you don't know who they are?) explain the link to the International Combat Camera Association among others? At least they have more control on their website, and Graham's name is right there. It is sad that there is such anger with those folks back at ICEV, perhaps because they cannot do anything else? I sure wouldn't put my children under their tutelage, but I think the Koreans are starting to get it that hogwans have become an opportunity for pedophiles to get lucky. After the hell in ICEV, it's so nice to be back in Canada! —Preceding unsignedcomment added by321.145.122.141 (talk) 13:59, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

I don't know what they call these loser English teachers in Korea, but when I was working in Hongkong a few years back, the Chinese called them "FILTH". That stands for F-ailed I-n L-ondon, T-ry H-ongkong. I've met them in just every city in Asia, and it's easy to see how quickly the natives lose interest. As China and South Korea are becoming financial lions, perhaps it's we who should be learning Chinese and Korean? —Preceding comment added byStockmeister (talk) 21:36, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Well, now I feel obligated to defend myself. Where to start? Let's see. If I wanted my posts to be anonymous then I wouldn't have my last name as part of my username. Also it's amusing that you would flame someone for not stating their full name with an anonymous post. I am learning Korean, mainly because I am taking the Foreign Service Exam and they give extra weight to knowledge of "exotic" languages. Plus why wouldn't you want to learn the language of the country where you are currently living. It's just common sense. I will say that the best argument you have is why I would bother criticizing Kurt in the first place. That's valid. I guess I was just annoyed by the blatant BS when I have been studying the difficult language for some time. I have to admit I very curious who posted the above message. You have me at a disadvantage in that you claim to know who I am, but I do not know who you are. It sounds like you worked at ICEV, but the only person I know of who worked at ICEV for less time than Kurt when I was there was the guy we fired for improper conduct. Man it would be ironic if that were you. This is Stephen. Do you have the courage of your own convictions?

P.S. Hey Cork, for the record I never thought you were a bad guy, just full of it a little bit. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Samatucci (talkcontribs) 14:07, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Enough with the childishness!

Is there anyone who can take discussions to level more mature? So much information on Vietnam, treasure hunting, the interesting components of one of the hardest or easiest languages to learn depending on who you talk to, political imprisonment, and these boneheads are using Wikipedia as a sounding board for their own pettiness. Enough! Who's presiding over these discussion boards anyway? What wankers!

This is what happens when there's no control of the information published. You can only check the references links to verify authenticity.Guaylo5 (talk) 18:13, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Richard Knight?

Has anyone read the book by the other treasure hunter, Richard Knight? He had a book too. Treasure! Will someone create a page?KiddFanatic (talk) 00:53, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
