Illustration for the mass flow meter article, for the purpose of illustrating the mass flow meter operating principle. This is the third animation of a group of four.

This animation represents how curve tube mass flow meters are designed. The fluid flows through two parallel tubes. An actuator (not shown) induces a vibration of the tubes. The two parallel tubes are counter-vibrating, to make the measuring device less sensitive to outside vibrations.

A flow meter that uses the Coriolis effect for its operating principle is also called a Coriolis flow meter.
