Corwen railway station
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Corwen railway station in Meirionethshire, Wales, was formerly a station on the Ruabon to Barmouth line. It closed to passengers on Monday 18 January 1965.
Corwen was also formerly the southern terminus of the Denbigh, Ruthin and Corwen Railway which ran from Rhyl to Corwen via Denbigh and Ruthin until its formal closure in 1963, although the line south of Ruthin was abandoned several years earlier after a landslide.
The preserved Llangollen Railway is currently (2007) constructing an extension to Corwen. Reopening of the station will require construction of a new station building as the original is in private use.
