Corvo (knife)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The corvo is a bladed weapon typically used in Chile. It is a knife with a curved blade of approximately 12 centimetres. Initially a tool, it was widely used in combat during the War of the Pacific, though it was not standard equipment.

Since it's a very offensive weapon (heavy and with slow recovery) it becomes a one-hit killer. During the war when Chilean soldiers were forced to fight hand to hand, they entered a frenzy state by consuming Chupilca del diablo. Corvo in hand, they'd go beheading enemies in a brutal fashion with no regard for their own safety. Needless to say at this point most of the enemy army started to run away.

Due to its success, the Chilean army decided to perfect the weapon and add it to their arsenal. Today it is the symbol of Chilean commandos and all of them are masters of this blade.
