Corvallis Pride

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Corvallis Pride is one of twenty seven teams in the Independent Women's Football League (IWFL), and the team is based in Corvallis, Oregon. The Pride’s head coach and owner is Beth Buglione. The Pride has been part of the IWFL since it started in 2001. Now approaching its 6th season the Pride has plans to continue competing in the Western Conference for many years to come. Home games are played at Corvallis High School.

With the head coach and few others being the only Pride teammates that have been with the IWFL for the full five years, the Corvallis Pride continues to grow. In the years past, new players have joined the Pride only by word of mouth, and now that the IWFL is getting more recognition, the Pride is receiving new players.[citation needed]

The Corvallis Pride wears the number 33 on all of their helmets, because one of their teammates, Pam Sandlin, whose number was 33, died weeks before the teams first ever playoff game in June 2002. The Pride retired her jersey on June 22, 2002.[citation needed]
