Cortese
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Cortese is a variety of wine grape grown primarily in northern Italy.
Gavi, in the region of Piemonte, is the production centre for Cortese di Gavi, a white DOCG wine made exclusively from this grape. It is also grown in the hills of Monferrato (Cortese dell'Alto Monferrato DOC to the south of the Tanaro and Monferrato Casalese Cortese DOC in the Basso Monferrato near Casale Monferrato) and in the hills of Tortona (Colli Tortonesi Cortese DOC).
In Lombardy it forms at least 85% of the blend for Oltrepò Pavese Cortese DOC, made in area of the Province of Pavia which lies to the south of the Po and is known as the Oltrepo Pavese.
