CortRon

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

CortRon, also sometimes typed CORTRON, was a standard U.S. Navy abbreviation or acronym for escort squadron, especially during World War II and the Korean War.

The Commander of a CortRon, in official Navy communications, was termed COMCORTRON (followed by a number), such as COMCORTRON THREE.

The escort squadron itself would be called CortRon 3 or CORTRON THREE in official Navy correspondence or message traffic.
