Corrin is a fictional planet in the Dune-series. Even though it is never actually visited by the characters during the original series, it plays an important role.
During the time of the Butlerian Jihad, Corrin was the most important of the Synchronized Worlds, being the "home" of Omnius Prime.
The independent robot Erasmus was "born" here. Once while taking a walk on a mission, he fell down into a crevice. He lay there for an entire Corrin-year (20 Standard years), and had nothing to do during the time but think. During this time he developed his independence, his personality, what Erasmus referred to as his soul. When he finally was discovered, Erasmus did not want to be united with Omnius again, and was instead ordered to find out more about the human mind.
Another character who originates from Corrin was Gilbertus Albans, the first Mentat, and the founder of the order. Albans was taken from the slave pens in 176 B.G. by Erasmus, who began developing his mind to the level of a thinking machine.
In the year 88 B.G., the Battle of Corrin took place, and this last Thinking Machine stronghold fell to the League of Nobles. To remember the great victory, Viceroy Faykan Butler took the name of Corrino, and founded the House Corrino, who would rule humanity for over 10,000 years.
The status and condition of Corrin since the epic battle, through both the original series and the later series of books, remain unrevealed.
