Corpus Christi College Boat Club (often shortened to Corpus) is the rowing club for members of Corpus Christi College, Cambridge. It is one of the poorer clubs in Oxbridge as a whole. Corpus Christi benefitted when the Lent and May Bumps became separate events in 1887. The start order chosen for the first Lent Bumps was based on that of the 2nd division of the early races, since the 1st division did not race in February/March in the early races. Corpus finished the 1886 races in 3rd in the 2nd division, and thus started the 1887 Lent Bumps in 3rd position. The 1st VIII managed to take the headship that year, and again in 1891, but fell away into the 2nd division thereafter. Most of the time since the turn of the century was spend in the 2nd division, but several periods were spent in the 1st division, rising as high as 6th in 1953. The 1st VIII are currently in 34th position in the Lent Bumps, one place away from its lowest ever position. The new May Bumps start order in 1887 was based on the 1st division of the early races, so Corpus started relatively low down and has spent all of its time since in the 2nd division, or bottom few crews of the 1st division. A women's crew first appeared in 1984 and has spent the vast majority of its time in both the Lent and May Bumps in the 2nd division, briefly making the 1st division in the 1987 Lent Bumps. In the 2005 May Bumps, the 1st women's VIII made their first bump since 1997, a run of bad form which saw them fall into the mid 3rd division. In the Lent Bumps the 1st women's VIII had managed to make only one bump since 1997, again seeing them drop into the 3rd division. The 2006 Lent Bumps, however, were a triumph in which both the 1st men and the 1st women made 4 bumps, thus winning their blades. This was followed in the May Bumps by the 1st women winning their second set of blades that year and 2nd men moving up 9 places over the four days. Lent Bumps 2007 saw W1 go down a place to head the third division, and M1 go up three places over the first three days, only to be denied their blades by carnage on the fourth day resulting in some technical row-overs and thus no bumps for the unlucky crew.

May Bumps 2007 should see some strong crews ready to do battle, with the women seeing the return of a few seasoned veterans and the men fielding another strong VIII, stroked by ex- University Lightweight Gareth Hughes who, despite originally intending Lents to be his 'swansong', has decided to take one last shot at winning a blade. The new Captains, Charlie Pearson for the men, and Fiona Jacques and Alex Marks for the women, are keen to start their captaincies with a bang, and training has already begun for Mays.
