Corps of Bridges and Roads (France)

The Corps of Bridges (Corps des Ponts) is a great technical corps of the French state. It is formed of the State Engineers of the Bridges.
People entering the Corps are educated at the École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées. Most of them are from École Polytechnique; these are known as X-Ponts; the rest come from École Normale Supérieure or the regular curriculum of the École des Ponts.
In 2002, the corps of engineers of the engineers of Bridges and Roads (Ponts et Chaussées), the engineers of Civil Aviation, the engineers-geographs and the meteorological engineers merged.
