From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Cornell Black Alumni Association, Inc. (CBAA), founded in 1976, is a 501(c)(3) national organization consisting of African American alumni of Cornell University. Cornell is part of the Ivy League and is located in Ithaca, New York.

CBAA administers a myriad of programs aimed at broadening opportunities for black Cornell alumni, future black Cornell students, and the black community in general. In an effort to maintain Cornell's diversity, increase African American enrollment, and to inspire and enable the pursuit of higher education, such programs include providing academic scholarships and other financial resources, mentorship, career development, and assisting Cornell University in its minority recruitment efforts.[1]

Over the course of more than thirty years, CBAA's mission and the scope of its programs and advocacy have expanded. CBAA currently has several regional chapters that sponsor cultural, social, civic, and professional activities and events across the country to achieve the organization's overall mission.
