Corned beef pie

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Corned beef pie is a British pie. It contains corned beef, onion and often thinly sliced or cubed potato.

It can be eaten hot or cold, making it a suitable common picnic food and also a 'winter warmer'.

The corned beef from which the pie derives its name is tinned corned beef (Bully beef).

The pie is often constructed with a shortcrust or other mechanically stable base crust and a flaked pastry top.

Allegedly in Australia, corned beef pie (generally with potato and tinned corned beef) is one of the few exclusively and iconic British foods consumed at picnics and similar events, being almost unknown to any group except British ex patriots, being especially favoured by Scots.
