Corky Ballas

Mark Alexander Corky Ballas Sr. is a retired competitive ballroom dancer who holds several Latin dance championship titles. He and his partner Shirley Ballas were 1996 Open to the World International Champions, 1995–1996 Open to the World British Champions, twice British National Champions, Star - World Cup - UK - Champions^[clarify], and seven times undefeated United States International Latin Champions. They retired in 1996.

Corky Ballas now judges professional competitions and teaches students all over the world.

Corky and Shirley have one son, born on May 24, 1986, Mark A. Corky Ballas, Jr.

Corky and Shirley also raised Derek Hough and Julianne Hough, and taught them how to dance. Corky has trained several of the professional dancers on the US franchise of the television show "Dancing with the Stars (U.S. TV series)."
