[edit] History

The high school was constructed in 1996 and completed in 1997 as a joint venture between the Memphis City Schools district and the Shelby County Schools district. The school opened during the 1997-1998 school year to a class of freshmen as a school within the Shelby County Schools. The freshmen of the 1997-1998 school year voted the school colors to be green and black, and the school's mascot to be the wolf. Each of the following years the school added a new class until 2001 the first graduating class left Cordova High School.

The 2003-2004 school year ended with Cordova High school leaving the Shelby County Schools district and joining the Memphis City Schools district. Cordova adopted a school uniform policy in Fall 2004, since the entire Memphis City Schools district adopted a uniform policy and all schools were required to adopt one at the time.

In fall 2007, 9th graders in some areas in unincorporated Shelby County were rezoned to different high schools (some areas were rezoned to Arlington High School, while some were rezoned to Bartlett High School). The areas will be "phased" in to grade 12 to zone out Cordova. Some sections of unincorporated Shelby County will still be zoned to Cordova.

As of 2008 the principal administrator is Anthony T. Frigo.
