Coral Square Mall is a shopping mall owned by Simon Property Group located in Coral Springs, Florida. It opened in October 1984 and is 945,000 square feet.
The mall has over 120 stores and restaurants. The anchors include Dillard's, JC Penney, Sears, and two Macy's stores, one of which is devoted to housewares, men's and kids' apparel, and the other to women's clothing, as well as perfume and jewelry. The mall also has a kiddie train, a carousel, and a large saltwater aquarium with tropical fish next to the food court.
When the mall opened in 1984, it originally had only three anchors: JC Penney, Burdines, and Lord and Taylor. A Jordan Marsh store opened in 1985. The Sears store, opened in 1988, took the place of a Macy's which had been planned but never built. In 1991, Lord and Taylor closed a number of their under-performing stores, one of which was the Coral Square store. Mervyn's moved into the former Lord and Taylor store. Also in 1991, the Jordan Marsh chain was shut down by Federated Department Stores, and the Jordan Marsh in Coral Square was converted to a Burdines Men, Children and Home store. In 1997, Mervyn's closed all of their Florida stores, and Dillard's moved into several of the former Mervyn's locations, including the one in Coral Square. In 2005, Federated Department Stores consolidated all of their stores under the Macy's name; the two Burdines locations were rebadged as Burdines-Macy's, and in 2006 the Burdines name was dropped entirely.
In 1995, the mall underwent a major renovation.
