Coral Springs Christian Academy

Coral Springs Christian Academy is a private school in Coral Springs, Florida, serving 1,100 students in kindergarten through 12th grade as of 2007.[1]

The school is a ministry of First Presbyterian Church of Coral Springs/Margate.[2]

Known as CSCA, the school opened in the 1970s as an elementary and middle school called "Coral Springs Christian School". The school later changed its name when high school grades were added. The school aims to teach students Christian values with regular chapels and Bible classes.[citation needed]

Robert Clampett is the headmaster, and the dean of students is Jake Von Scherrer. The Middle School MS Principal is Ms. Sue Tameling and its HS principal is Diane Showalter.[citation needed]

The school is located on the corner of Royal Palm and Riverside Drive.

  • The varsity baseball team won the district championship in 2001.[citation needed]
  • The team defeated Highlands for the first time in five years and Westminster Academy for the first time ever.[citation needed]

It is the only undefeated CSCA team in history with a perfect season of 26-0, making it as far as the Regional Final Four.[citation needed]

Previous accolades include a 7-3 season in 2004, which was the program's first playoff bid. The program has never lost to arch rival Highlands Christian Academy; It has a record of 6-0 vs the Knights. The football program has produced athletes who have gone onto success playing a the college level such as David Fantell (SUNY Albany), Mike Hancock (Florida Atlantic University), Pat Ryan (Lake Forest College), Andy Holz (Norwich), Tyson von Scherrer (Norwich), and Christopher Sneesby (Florida State University).[citation needed]

Coral Springs Christian staged High School Musical on May 2007 - the actors were middle and high school students. They are one of the first schools to put on the show based on the Disney Channel Movie in South Florida. Rehearsals are now beginning for the 2008 spring musical HONK! which will open the first week of May. The show will star Cal Wilson, Mariana Caro, Ryan Davies, Erik Ramos, Daniel Rivera, Caitlin Roy, Elanor Rector, and Laura Baughman in the featured roles.[citation needed]
