Articles

  • Little Red Corvette (history · last edit) and other Prince song articles. This is a more general request regarding the inclusion of links to sites that post lyrics without permission (specifically dtt-lyrics.com). According to Wikipedia:Copyrights#Linking to copyrighted works, linking to such sites is not allowed because of the possibility of "contributory infringement". User:MistaTee has been reverting removals of these lyric links from many Prince song articles without explanation, even after the aforementioned policy was pointed out. Please review whether these actions are in line with Wikipedia policy. I have personally removed the link from Little Red Corvette twice after MistaTee reverted its removal by User:LuciferMorgan. I glanced at MistaTee's contribution and saw about a dozen reverts that were adding back links to dtt-lyrics.com. Special:Linksearch currently shows 147 articles linking to dtt-lyrics.com. Thanks. • I just noticed these comments by User:MistaTee. It looks like this user runs dtt-lyrics.com, meaning that he is also the primary infringer... These reverts are an attempt to preserve links to his site from Wikipedia. Mike Dillon 16:34, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

    • Keep. Copyrighted or not, the image is given with a valid fairuse rationale. Fairuse is specifically designed for the copyrighted images. If the tagger has a problem with fairuse ratioanle's validity, there are ways to do it other than copyvio tag. --Irpen 07:55, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
      • User:Irpen is under the misconception that the image was uploaded under a fair use license and then tagged as a copyright violation (diff). Actually it was uploaded as {{PD-self}} by User:Incognito and I tagged it as a {{imagevio}} (diff). Subsequently User:Sebbeng relicensed it under a fair use license (diff). It is always prudent to check the page history before posting a comment. --Oden 08:13, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
        • I comment on the page in the current stage wich is the most relevant one. The image cannot be a copyvio and fairuse at the same time. Fairuse implies that the image is copyrighted. Fairuse images are not copyvios. Fairuse claim being valid or not is a separate issue and does not belong at the copyvio board --Irpen 08:17, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
          • I believe that determination should be left to the processing admin.--Oden 08:26, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
            • The image was claimed as a Fair Use, tagged as repalceable, and its repleacability was challenged. Please continue the discussion over the replaceability on the talk page of the image Alex Bakharev 08:51, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

Keep - The image used in the background is a the flag of Serbia and is in the public domain. // Laughing Man 15:31, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
Comment - The copyright issue is not over the subject, the issue is over the camera work 86.12.249.63 17:01, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

  • Image:Theofanis gekas.jpg (history · last edit) from [17]. I cannot read German, but I do believe this to be a copyvio as a similar website in English would generally not release such an image. MECUtalk 15:33, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

  • Image:Quagmire-3865.jpg (history · last edit) from [23]. I doubt this image is under GFDL and uploader provides no information on who released it. I think image is allowable under Fair Use, instead. Liffer 19:38, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
  • Image:Nasa05.jpg (history · last edit) from [24]. I uploaded this yesterday, assuming that it was from NASA, and thus public domain, but after Orphanbot said to the contrary, I did some more searching and discovered that it belongs to Getty Images. Delete it someone. Just a big blooper on my part. One question: How did Orphanbot find this, if I'd already put the NASA tag on it? Was the bot looking for external links to the source?
