[edit] What Spoilers, copyrights....?

Everything that I say in the begining of the first part of the article is established in the first 5-10 minutes of the movie. You know Stallone is a push over, Keitel is a corrupt cop, Babitch is still alive and that De Niro is a IA agent. So, where are the spoilers exactly. As for the copyrighted information, sure I can change, but you got your work cut out for you if you're trying to make sure there are no copyrighted informantion. [18:31, 30 March 2007 Dffdfdf]

Spoiler tags cover everything, not just what happens after the start. Often the start of films is when they are most suspenseful (anything might happen), and Cop Land is a case in point. And good Wikipedia editors take copyright violation very seriously. Wasted Time R 18:43, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
Also, Wikipedia articles are not dumping grounds for lists of trivia; read WP:Trivia. A Wikipedia article for a movie should not be like the IMDB article for the movie — they do what they do well, Wikipedia is trying to do something else. Wasted Time R 18:54, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

Oh, in that case, get to work. Jackie Brown (film), Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Cape Fear (1991 film), Casino (film), The Godfather Part II, Dog Day Afternoon, Heat (film) if what you tell me is ture, well here you are. And there are many more like these where there are "spoilers" in the begining. Until all this is changed, what I did for Cop Land was pereftly fine, based on all these movies who have similar articles in the begining. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dffdfdf (talkcontribs) 15:09, March 30, 2007 (UTC)

As for the trivia, here you go. The Godfather has similar trivias, so does Heat and many others as well. Lets go, get a move on. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dffdfdf (talkcontribs) 15:16, March 30, 2007 (UTC)

Yes, I agree, the general state of film articles in Wikipedia is terrible. I can't fix all of them, nor do I even want to (I've already lost my mind trying to improve music articles). But I am going to keep the crud out of this one. Cop Land is a lost classic, and if someone happens to read this article, I want them to get a sense of why, not read some stupid trivia list. And by the way, precedence is the worst excuse, as another tough-nosed WP editor likes to say ... Wasted Time R 19:20, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

I happen to also like Cop Land and when people look to check it out, I don't them to think, well there is almost no information on this film so why waste time on it. And if you have a problem with Trivia, that's fine, but you don't have to edit it, especiall after I revised it, just because you don't like it. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dffdfdf (talkcontribs) 15:26, March 30, 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Merging and sources

We can't have two separate sets of character and plot descriptions in the article, that's obviously silly. I've attempted to merge your writeup into the spoiler-protected plot writeup that's already there. You can tweak that further if you wish.

I've added a couple of the trivia list items into the article mainline that are important, but we really need reliable cites for them (no, IMDB doesn't count). One of the items, that the movie contains one of the first CGI shots, would be notable if true but seems obviously false — Terminator 2, Jurassic Park, and Forrest Gump all pre-date Cop Land by several years and had much more lavish use of CGI ... what is Mangold thinking? That it was the first CGI use in a modest-budget film, something like that? Wasted Time R 12:15, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Cop Land - The Sopranos

Does anybody know why so many actors who appeared in Cop Land where also in The Sopranos? I'm sure it'd be interesting trivia at least. I imagine it's something to do with the casting agents, but that would be a big fat guess.Musungu jim 20:05, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Austin screens film-1.gif

Image:Austin screens film-1.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Cleaning and revision

I cleaned up the article a little bit but I could not figure out how to get John Spencer to link to his wiki. ronin13: Sunday, 04/11/07 2:38 Pacific Time
