Copland College

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Copland College opened in 1978 at Copland Drive, Melba, Australian Capital Territory, Australia

It is a supporter of the IB Diploma Program.

Many students come from nearby Melba High School.

There are 450 students enrolled as of February 2006.

There are plans by the ACT Government to change the school's structure under the Towards 2020 proposals, there are three suggested options:

  1. Establish the Melba Collegiate of Schools. Under this option, Copland would remain on its current site and cater for students in years 9-12.
  2. Establish the Melba Secondary College. Under this option, the college would close and a new Melba Secondary School catering for years 7-12 would open on the college site.
  3. The college runs as it currently does, catering only to students in Year 11 and Year 12.

In 2007, it has been decided by the ACT Government, to finally merge Copland College and Melba Secondary School. As of 2008, the joint school will be renamed as the Melba-Copland Secondary School.
