The "Competencia Jockey Club" was a football tournament organized by Asociación Argentina de Fútbol, which later became in Asociación del Fútbol Argentino (AFA, the official Argentinean league).

The champion of this Cup gained access to play the international "Cup Tie Competition", against a representative of the Asociación Uruguaya de Football.

Teams affiliated to the Liga Argentina de Fútbol and Federación Rosarina de Fútbol were allowed to enter to this competition. From 1925 edition, only teams from Buenos Aires, belonging to the professional and amateur leagues were allowed to play.
Until 1906 Uruguayan and Argentine teams used to start playing against each other since the semi-final round of the international "Tie Cup Competition". Since 1907, only the final match had been international. The Argentine finalist of the "Tie Cup Competition" was awarded "Jockey Club" trophy. It is not clear if the "Jockey Club" trophy was given every year. 1921, 1925, 1931 and 1933: The international final was not played.
