[edit] you sure contacting school admin is a good idea
every computer IP owned by the western australian education department has been blocked due to the students repeated vandalism. (it won't let me edit even if i log in) but i doubt that contacting school admin would help as they probable don't like the thought of students contributing to wikipedia on school internet (they have very tight bugets, and can't aford internet beening used for non nessicary uses)
This is also the case with most schools around the country, the block is permanent for most people. But I suppose if it is what you have to do to keep this web site somewhat reputable it has to be done. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Haydonithink (talk • contribs) 02:38, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Blocked by an ex-user
Here's what I get when I try to edit:
Your user name or IP address has been blocked from editing.
You were blocked by Jaranda for the following reason (see our blocking policy): Autoblocked because your IP address has been recently used by "JJoseph". The reason given for JJoseph's block is: "sock of Js2Jo". Your IP address is 152.163.101.14.
"Jaranda" is no longer a member -- HELP!! (Why can I edit here but not elsewhere??) MajorRogers 21:44, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
- Hello! This isn't really the right place to contact us or to request unblocking help (for that, please go back to Wikipedia:Contact us and Wikipedia:Contact us/blocked), but the IP address you posted resolves to AOL. Many IP addresses of blocked users are also blocked to prevent abuse, and unfortunately, it seems like you were assigned that same IP number by AOL, which uses a large number of addresses that vary with each page, and thus were blocked from editing. The reason that you can edit elsewhere is because the IP address often changes with each page with AOL, thus meaning that you will be autoblocked on some pages. Thanks, and let me know if you still have problems. Flcelloguy (A note?) 02:54, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Suggestion
A couple of the libraries/library systems I use are blocked regularly (and occasionally other places - "accidental crossover blockings")
Something needs to be done about library blocks - as sometimes it is useful to correct typos etc in passing. The suggestion/question is whether it would be possible to retain the "you have been blocked by xxxx because yyyy and your IP is 1.2.3.4" information when you sign in so the person can be contacted with the details (as the information disappears). (The minimal might be #an "automatic text" to the effect "please copy these details now for when you sign in" reminder) Jackiespeel 17:21, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Country manager
What can be done in case, the main national administrator does not have an email and some of the administrators block dynamic open access WLAN IPs for several weeks? Is there any arbitration committee for these questions, for example for Finland? 81.175.156.88 23:58, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
