[edit] You're welcome

(Ref this comment) You're welcome. Unfortunately, you seem to have caught the attention of an editor who's more interested in showing off his crushing wit, dashing cleverness and devastating vocabulary than in considering edits neutrally for the betterment of Wikipedia. I can understand how he feels — it can be difficult resist showing off one's specialised knowledge in a forum like this, though the rules and protocols are designed and intended to put low limits on the degree to which such display is tolerated. That said, I am still not judging which of you is correct, if either. In any event, it's gritching to walk away and let a bully think he's won, but in a case like this it's probably the best way forward. There'll be other articles and other days, and your talents and time would be wasted doing battle with the likes of Saltation. —Scheinwerfermann (talk) 01:03, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] to tag or not to tag

[edit] In Gender

Good editing! I agree 100% -- both with the tagging AND the untagging, lol.

There are still traces of a previous version where an editor adopted an essay style, and a fairly didactic essay too. However, it was well sourced, so I simply tried to rephrase it to describe the opinions of those quoted. In a number of places it was hard to remove deictic inclusive we forms, but in other cases the pronoun was sufficiently ambiguous that it could be interpreted as refering to the species Homo sapiens in an appropriately more personal tone. The very points you note.

  • Not all mammals are omnivorous like humans are, those species we domesticate for consumption are typically herbivors.

I think this section can be improved in a number of ways, none of them are "taggable offenses" though, and I'm not up to researching them atm.

Thanks for dropping by! :) Alastair Haines (talk) 06:10, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Butt Magazine

Thank you so much for the links that you provided. I plan on expanding the article very soon, and you gave me a wealth of available information. Wikipedia needs more editors like you! Have a great day! Icarus of old (talk) 02:59, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

I'm glad you found the links useful! I haven't had time yet to dig into them and pick out the bits that would be appropriate for the article, so I figured I'd just put them on the talk page in case someone else wanted to tackle them in the meantime. Cheers! — confusionball (talk) 04:24, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
