I could write an essay using all of the knowledge that I have to explain why I believe that the Confederate Flag is not a symbol of racism but to make it plain and simple all I have to say is this. The Confederacy was its own country that wanted Independence from the United States. That is the reason they fought in the war, for independence. They wanted to get the rights they deserved from the Constitution. They did not get this, so by order of the 10th amendment certain southern states broke away and joined together as the Confederate States of America. Some people would say that they broke away to keep their slaves. The Civil War/Confederate Revolution was and was not about slavery. Only 6% of the Confederate people owned slaves at all. Also, the United States had two states where slaves were allowed. But the United States told their people that the Southerners were fighting to keep their slaves. This was not true but that is what was put out. Therefore the United States had more people fight.
