Wasn't the first season of Dukes of Hazzard filmed here? The first few episodes were, before filming was moved to cali. Actually they were filmed in Oxford and Covington which is like 15 min west on I-20.

This place used to be a much better place to live. Did it not? Answer: Some would say yes and some would say no. You'd need to be more specific with your question. On the one hand it's grown an awful lot. On the other, the schools have gone downhill from 15 years ago. So it depends on what you're looking for.

I would certainly say it has declined. Since the mass migration from the North (Detroit, Baltimore, New York) and Dekalb county, crime has skyrocketed. Violent crime too, the Rockdale citizen has no trouble finding stories that bleed these days. It is pathetic to see what this town has become.

I didn't realize the crime had gotten that bad. But that's what I get for not reading the local paper. But it doesn't surprise me. I guess the old saying is true, you can't go home again.

Still, I just ignore the crime, I hear home reposession rates are very high, so perhaps it will just move away as quickly as it came.
