[edit] Grammar issue
The article was grammatically correct as it stood - "a style reminiscent of Ernest Hemingway's," as in, "a style reminiscent of Ernest Hemingway's style." | Klaw ¡digame! 15:58, 24 February 2006 (UTC)
- Hi there. Look, I get what you mean...its just that you're, well, wrong. It ain't "proper grammar" to end a sentence in the possessive form, and the subject of the phrase (ie. "style") is already stated! On top of all that, the stature of someone like Hemingway makes it redundant to use such a formulation (not that anyone would use it). If we need to continue this, please post to the article's talk page, not here. BLUE 01:46, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

- Klaw - in English, we try not to end sentences in the possesive form; pls use talk here, not my page) There is no call for sarcasm, and it is not appropriate Wikiquette. Please choose your words more carefully in the future. I will place my discussion of the grammatical question on the article's talk page. | Klaw ¡digame! 02:05, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

"written in a style reminiscent of Ernest Hemingway's" is correct, whereas "written in a style reminiscent of Ernest Hemingway" is not (although it is equally likely to be understood). There is no rule, actual or practical, prohibiting the use of a possessive at the end of a sentence. | Klaw ¡digame! 02:08, 25 February 2006 (UTC)
- Keithlaw, as the creator of the article it seems you have a proprietary level of commitment to this issue that will very much outmatch mine. The issue itself will be corrected in time so I will leave you to it for now. Regarding my edit summary comment, please get a grip. Me pointing out that it is inelegant at best to end a sentence with a possessive is nothing like your standard "fixing grammar - again"s. And I assume you did not mean to reference the comment about posting to this page: clearly that's what you should have done in the first place. BLUE 02:36, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
