- Continuous probability is the field in mathematics which deals with probabilities of continuous distribution. That is, it is based on continuous sets.
As a mathematician, I would like to know what you mean by a "continuous set"?
- Given a random variable A, the probability(P) that it equals any given value x, is defined as:
- PA(x)
If this is supposed to be about continuous probability distributions, then the probability that any of those assign to any particular value is always zero. But what do you mean by "defined as"? That makes sense only if the function PA(x) has already been defined.
- That is, PA(x) is the probability that A = x.
Thus PA is known as the probability density function of the random variable A.
This makes no sense: the value of a probability density function is not the same thing as a probability, unless you're talking about a discrete probability density function, often called a "probability mass function". 131.183.84.216 21:36 29 Jun 2003 (UTC)
