Talk:Contest (novel)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Should we put in a mention of the Contest film? IMDb doesn't have a listing, but it's on his website along with lots[1] of screenshots, so we can safely say it exists... what's the Wikipedia policy regarding films in production? Tyrhinis 20:39, September 2, 2005 (UTC) Wonder if anyone's looked here recently. I would say that screenshots could definately be placed up, due to the fact that the file is independent, and is therefor unlikely to appear on IMDB. Comments? --Stretch 11:34, 24 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Additions and deletions
I deleted some spoilers within the Characters section, I also corrected the film info and added a few bits more of info... BTW, the bit regarding his re-write of the novel is in the US edition of contest, but I wouldn't know how to cite that.Vicco Lizcano 18:28, 8 March 2007 (UTC) (Tell me where I'm wrong)
[edit] How many minutes of footage?
There seems to be some discrepancy between the times given here and in the Matthew Reilly article, someone (who can confirm the exact time) should correct the articles. If there's no mention of the current time, we could mention that he has filmed a few minutes of footage.Vicco Lizcano 23:43, 8 March 2007 (UTC) (Tell me where I'm wrong)
[edit] Contestants / Non Contestants
I believe this would look better in a table, I'll try to figure out how to set up one later and see how it looks.Vicco Lizcano 23:19, 16 March 2007 (UTC) (Tell me where I'm wrong)
- Yeah, I already made the table, looked good in preview, but the Infobox makes it smaller, oh well, when other people contribute to the first sections, it'll look better (hopefully). We should make a section for the publication history of the novel (self-published, oficially published, US published). Vicco Lizcano 23:53, 16 March 2007 (UTC) (Tell me where I'm wrong)
[edit] The Karanadon
I changed the following sentence: "An enormous beast located inside the place of the contest prior to its start, intended to eliminate the last remaining participant once all the other contestants are dead"; what would be the point of a contest if you're going to eliminate the last remaining participant? The Karanadon (if I remmember correctly) was in the place of the contest as a precautory(sp?) measure in case the contestants decided not to fight or couldn't/wouldn't kill each other. I'll have a few days off work, I'll try to expand the article at home (where I keep my copy of the book). Vicco Lizcano 14:04, 4 April 2007 (UTC) (Tell me where I'm wrong)
[edit] Deleted story section
I have deleted the entirety of the story section as this text was identical to the synopsis found at Amazon.com, which is a copyright issue. baby_ifritah 13:45, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
- Well, the article seems rather silly without a story section, perhaps someone with time can rephrase it? Vicco Lizcano 14:59, 8 May 2007 (UTC) (Hey! Listen!)
- I added a little synopsis, I've never liked Story sections that narrate every little thing that happens in books/movies/shows. I'll get back later and try to make it better, specially get rid of all those contestant(s); I'll try to change that word so it's not repeated that much. Vicco Lizcano 18:20, 8 May 2007 (UTC) (Hey! [edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Contest.jpg
Image:Contest.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
