Connie Smith is not in the same classification as some of the bigger name female country artists of the late '60s - '70s (Tammy Wynnette, Loretta Lynn, Lynn Anderson and Dolly Parton), who have won most of the major industry awards and charted multiple number one singles.

To say she was on the same level with Loretta Lynn and Tammy Wynette in the late '60s is an inaccurate statement. Connie Smith's reign at the top of the charts was very short lived. She only had ONE single to reach the No. 1 spot on Billboard, "Once a Day".
