Talk:Congrès International d'Architecture Moderne
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The first sentence of the article is terrible: "The Congrès International d'Architecture Moderne (CIAM...was the think tank of the modern movement (or international style) in architecture."
First, the CIAMs should be plural, Congrès Internationaux d'Architecture Moderne, after all, there were quite a few of them over the course of 30 years.
Second, CIAM was not a "think tank." It did not have permanent offices, employees, researchers, etc. It was a long running series of international conferences.
Then the "modern movement" is not the same as the "international style." The International Style was the title of a book by Philip Johnson and Henry-Russell Hitchcock. The CIAMs were something different, run by different people for different reasons.
I'm going to change it sooner or later. Thanks,Fixifex (talk) 02:31, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
