Isn't it fair use as a logo? I'm not good with images and I don't really know what I'm supposed to do with this. As the logo of an event, its use is similar to other major sporting events that represent the subject of the article. People could be familiar with the logo as a representation of the subject. matt , June (UTC) It should be used in 2003 Games of the Small States of Europe under fair use. matt91486 (talk) 08:52, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale

Though this image is subject to copyright, its use is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:

  1. The image is only a small portion of the overall product and serves as an easily identifiable part of a larger entity.
  2. The copy of the image is low-resolution and will not produce high-quality copies of the art for illegal duplication. The quality is high enough to clearly present the image and to place the subject represented by the image in a good light.
  3. The use of the image will not affect the value of the original work or limit the copyright holder's rights or ability to gain commercially from the work.
  4. It illustrates educational articles about the subject represented by the image.
  5. The image is used as the primary means of visual identification of topics in the article.
  6. It is not replaceable with an uncopyrighted or freely copyrighted image of comparable educational value. A free image could not be created to replace it without itself being a derivative work.

The image comes from http://www.nocmalta.org/gsse.htm, the official website of the 2003 GSSE, and will fall under fair use for the 2003 Games of the Small States of Europe page only. matt91486 13:28, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
